It can be hard to know what to do

Learn how to help yourself, a friend or family member if experiencing abuse of any kind. Know the signs!

Controlling in any way to do with money, passwords, knowing your location, reading your phone messages, listening to phone calls, who you spend time with.

Manipulative in the person’s privacy and boundaries. Isolating them from their friends and family.

Jealous if anyone else talks to the individual’s partner or appears possessive over their partner.

Quickly to fly into a fit of rage over the smallest of things.

Aggressive and physically grabs their partner or hurts them.

Vocally putting them down all the time and making them feel worthless.

Check in on them
Talk to them in person
Ask them about their relationship
Speak to someone else they are close to
Point out unhealthy behaviours
Be patient if they deny it
Don’t bring it up with their partner
Agree on a code word to use if they are in danger
